Abstract art is always interesting. The abstract designs created by Carolyn vary in glass selections and construction.
These designs are available in classically constructed designs and a modern fused glass.
The classically constructed designs are built using stained glass and either lead came or copper foil techniques.
As an option Carolyn has constructed several hanging panels by fusing cut stained glass using a kiln, firing the glass in a specific position until the glass is heated sufficiently to begin to melt. This process allows the glass to “stick” to other pieces creating a single piece of art using many smaller pieces of glass without the use of lead came or copper foil.
The process can be tedious, as the glass heats to the pre-determined temperature and melds and then is allowed to sit inside the kiln and slowly cool. The cooling process can take hours. During that time the kiln is not to be opened as any sudden change in temperature can cause the piece to crack and be destroyed.
