Art Nouveau Style Stained Glass

This custom order for a bathroom window seemed to ideally capture the Art Nouveau Style stained glass design. I created the design to accentuate flowing lines. I enjoythe Art Nouveau style and particularly enjoy incorporating the style into my custom designs.

The window measures 30.5 inches by 29 inches.

The texture of the background opaque glass itself complements the flow of the lines of the blue-green iris and it provides light without invading privacy. As noted, the background glass also has the flowing lines and is called “everglade”. I always work to select not only the colors that fit the design but a texture that is appropriate.

I used Youghiogheny pale green Stipple glass to create the flowing leaves. For the iris blooms I used blue-green spectrum glass. In keeping with the Art Nouveau style the leaves wander around the interior of the window. I created the flowing leaves to provide balance in design.

I used 3/16 inch lead came for the window and a 1/2 inch zinc to provide additional strength as the window will hang over an existing exterior window.

Working with people on custom projects is one of the great joys of my work. Most of the time I am given an idea of the theme and style and I then incorporate the clients preferences and home decor style into the final design.
